Touristy neighborhood, with a partial view of the Temple of Hephaestus. Creative takes on traditional Greek, good wine list.

It’s along the cliff walk. Really well-done Santorini cuisine. Very good and not expensive.

METAXI MAS
In Exogonia, one of our two best meals in Greece. Not easy to find - uphill from Kamari beach. Superbly prepared fish and vegetables. Great view from the leafy terrace. Go for lunch, drink the Hatzidakis Assyrtiko and if you can get up, swim at Kamari in the far corner by the mountain.

GOLDEN SUNSET VILLAS
Right on the tip, with parking and huge pool on the cliff. Despite the corny name, it’s a great place. The apartments built into the cliff are fantastic, each with terrace and view. Just pay no attention to the hundreds of photographers at sunset. Family-owned and friendly. Definitely go down the cliff to swim at Amoudi, eat at the last restaurant along the little harbor.

For adults, the best place to stay by far is Oia. Fabulous setting, many good restaurants, although the trip by car can be hair-raising. Best to avoid the scary road, after the first time, and take the low road on the backside of the island.
