I really like their apples. They’re just always really, really well cared for. They’re harvested at the right time and they’re not stored forever. They move through their product pretty quickly. I like their variety a lot too. They’re very true to the genetics of what they’re growing. (Wednesdays and Saturdays)

Dave Harris farms his own trout, but he also forages around his area. In addition to the trout, he has really nice potatoes and sunchokes. (Wednesdays)

Filipino @ Maharlika
It’s a nice small neighborhood restaurant with traditional food that they put their own twist on. The food is really well prepared, really tasty and the staff is great. They’re incredibly knowledgeable. I really like the pork loin confit. It's really delicious and two people can share it. The cocktails are also really great and they have an awesome beer selection.

Chef George Mendes at Aldea

Portuguese @ Aldea
It’s one of my favorite restaurants in the city. George Mendes is Portuguese and he has a way of really translating his heritage into something that’s very dynamic and very delicate, but still really filled with a lot of great interesting flavors. It’s a hard balance to strike, but he does it really well.

Sushi @ Ushiwakamaru
The sushi is topnotch. I don’t think anyone really does Edo style better than they do. It’s really impressive how consistent it is. Especially the types of fish that involve salting and curing and washing with vinegar, such as Hikarimono (shiny fish), Kohada (gizzard shad), Saba (mackerel), and Sayori (halfbeak). The balance between the acidity, the rice and the natural salinity in the fish. They just nail it every time. It’s also a very fun environment.
