East Village - New York, NY
The intimate restaurant Chiyono serves Japanese home style cooking. They have many specials; the awesome Japanese Curry (one of my favorites of home cooking). They serve it only after midnight, Friday through Sunday.
Chef Chikara Sono of Kyo ya in New York, NY
Japanese homestyle cooking in a cozy East Village location. Owner / chef Chiyono Murano first came to New York to study art and opened up her restaurant in 2005 cooking recipes passed down by her family. The emphasis is on home-cooked Japanese food and on any given day she presents a number of specials on a chalk board. Don’t miss the grilled salmon collar if you happen to stop by on a day when it’s available.
