What it is: a pomegranate syrup used as a flavoring in drinks.
What it tastes like: tart and tropical.
How it got its name: grenadine comes from the French word grenade meaning pomegranate.
Why artisanal is better: you want the syrup made from the juice of the pomegranate, not with high-fructose corn syrup and red food coloring.
How you use it: in cocktails like Ward 8, Jack Rose, Maiden’s Blush and for a fun old school throwback, a Tequila Sunrise.

Jack Rose Cocktail

Glass: Cocktail Glass
Ingredients
- 1.5 oz Applejack
- 0.5 oz Jack Rudy Grenadine
- 0.5 oz Lime Juice
Directions
1) Add ingredients to a cocktail shaker.
2) Add ice and shake until chilled.
3) Double strain into a chilled cocktail glass.

Ingredients
- 2 oz Gin
- 0.5 oz Cointreau
- 0.5 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
- 0.25 oz. Jack Rudy Grenadine
Directions
1) Add ingredients to a cocktail shaker.
2) Add ice and shake until chilled.
3) Double strain into a chilled cocktail coupe.
Tequila Sunrise

Garnish: Orange Slice & Cherries
Ingredients
- 2 oz Silver Tequila
- 0.75 oz Orange Juice
- 0.25 oz Lime Juice
- 0.25 oz Simple Syrup
- 0.25 oz. Jack Rudy Grenadine
Directions
1) Add first four ingredients to a cocktail shaker.
2) Add ice and shake until chilled.
3) Strain into an ice filled tall collins glass.
4) Drizzle Jack Rudy Grenadine on the top and garnish.
