Socarrat Wine Bar | NYC
Socarrat Bar de Vinos is the answer to the question of what to do when the next door Socarrat Paella Bar is packed. Get tapas and a glass of wine or sherry at the wine bar and follow up with paella next door. The wine list contains selections from various spanish regions and will soon have a rotating list of interesting sherries. Tapas: traditional, but not typical. A few empanadas, a selection of cheeses, small crispy cocas (spanish little pizzas), and something that got us really excited: canned seafood. The Spanish are experts at canned seafood and they have included a range of approximately 10 from which to choose.
The design mimics the adjacent paella bar with more space and a few quirky spins. The white cupboard doors that line the paella bar are used also at the wine bar, but on the ceiling. Red brick walls, a black granite bar and soft lighting make it a comfortable setting.
