DRINK | Bartender’s Soda Tip
“It’s based here in South Carolina. Their stuff is insanely good.”
If you’ve been traveling around the South, you may be already be familiar with Blenheim Ginger Ale, the spicy soda with the cult following. The beverage was created in the 1800's by a doctor, who was from Blenheim, South Carolina. He added Jamaica ginger and sugar to the local spring water as a cure for his patients with stomach ailments.
Today, Blenheim comes only in 12-ounce glass bottles and in a few different variations. Old #3 Hot -- Red Cap “goes down as smoothly as a firecracker exploding in your throat.” The #5 Not As Hot -- Gold Cap
is “little bit milder, but still retains that powerful burst of ginger” and the #9 Diet - White Cap is made for the calorie conscious.
You can serve Blenheim's over ice or use it to add a bit of kick to a cocktail.
